Alanista borders the Divided Kingdoms region.

Industries

The major industry in Alanista is farming. The lush, wide open plains make the country ideal farmland.

Life and Society

Most of Alanista’s citizens are farmers who have lived their entire lives farming and occasionally visiting places during the off-season. Though not a particularly exciting life, it is reasonably peaceful and safe, and many ex-soldiers of Athaeria and even Granditore will settle down in Alanista once their service is finished to raise a family.

Government and Politics

King Durell Marquis (LG male human, aristocrat 5/bard 5/fighter 4) rules with the advice of the council of elders. Said to be a bit of a playboy in his younger days, the King has since grown accustomed to his position. An accomplished poet, swordsman, and diplomat, the king is widely liked in Alanista.

Princess Annette Marquis (CG female human, aristocrat 4/bard 2) though is a popular figure for gossip in the country. It is said that as a child she defiantly ran away from the castle on several occasions, to avoid suitors, boring social events, or general responsibilities. Having said that, she has a heart for the people of her country.

Power Groups

The nobility have great power here, and supply the king with a significant force of Royal Knights. Manors of local gentry dot the countryside, and provide the farming peasants with protection from brigands and thieves in exchange for food.

The People’s Militia is a force of vagabonds mercenaries, and repentant brigands who protect areas not overshadowed by the Royal Knights. They are led by the bold and boisterous master swordsman, the legendary Baron Kassis Urgarden (NG male human, scout 11/duskblade 4), who is a well known retired adventurer and former self-proclaimed mercenary of justice.

Religion

Alanista is a land of clear blue skies and golden fields so it’s not surprising that the sun god Solace (NG) is by far the most popular deity. The crown does not however, favour any religion, and one is free to worship however they please, so long as they do not disturb the peace. Many farmers are the followers of a local folk god of prosperity and harvests.

Alanista’s knights are often known to serve Aeon and Xenos. The king himself is said to be partial to Solace, but is not particularly pious.

Major Settlements / Important Sites

Thalbion: At the centre of the capital of Thalbion lies the Castle Alancrest, where the royal family has resided for generations.

Medran: This quiet town borders the Duchy of Longshire, which lies along the northwest and the Barony of Arcandor, which lies along the northeast and itself borders Athaeria. Duke Markev Vansilius (NG male human, cleric 11) of Longshire is a kind and enlightened individual, famous for having traveled the world as a wandering healer and adventurer. Today he is known for entertaining travelers and mysterious guests at the Castle Elricast, and is said to be writing a guide to for adventurers based on his travels.

Adventuring In Alanista

Probably the most peaceful and boring place to be in Calbion. It’s a good place to relax and stock up on supplies, but the last monsters, dangers, or treasures were long ago conquered by the knights of Alanista.
