The following is a trait-based variant character creation system, for you to consider in your campaign. Each character by default begins with 10 as their default ability score for every ability. Then that player chooses three character traits from the list below:

!!!Bookish
You are well read, but also rather sheltered.\\
Benefit: +2 INT, +2 WIS\\
Drawback: -2 CON, -2 CHA
!!!Brutish
You are physically imposing, but also rather crude.\\
Benefit: +2 STR, +2 CON\\
Drawback: -2 DEX, -2 CHA
!!!Graceful
You are very precise and articulate, but lack brute physical power.\\
Benefit: +2 DEX, +2 CHA\\
Drawback: -2 STR, -2 CON
!!!Impetuous
You have a tendency to rush into things without thinking.\\
Benefit: +2 STR, +2 CHA\\
Drawback: -2 INT, -2 WIS
!!!Intellectual
You are a thinker, not a fighter.\\
Benefit: +2 INT, +2 WIS\\
Drawback: -2 STR, -2 CON
!!!Pacifist
You would rather not fight.\\
Benefit: +2 CHA, +2 WIS\\
Drawback: -2 STR, -2 CON
!!Character Talents
In addition you can have each player choose three of the following:
!!!Musical Aptitude
You have played a musical instrument and become skilled at it.\\
Benefit: +1 DEX, +1 CHA, +1 INT
!!!Sports Championship
You competed and won in a race or tournament of physical prowess.\\
Benefit: +1 STR, +1 DEX, +1 CON
!!!Honour Roll
You were near the top of your class.\\
Benefit: +1 CHA, +1 INT, +1 WIS
!!Character Flaws
Each flaw you pick allows an additional talent:
!!!Slow-Witted
You just can’t keep up during an intellectual conversation.\\
Drawback: -1 CHA, -1 INT, -1 WIS
!!!Social Anxiety
People make you nervous and clumsy.\\
Drawback: -1 DEX, -1 CHA, -1 WIS
