Aisa

Character Profile

Aisa was originally the acronym AISA, which stood for Artificially Intelligent Singer Agent or Artificially Intelligent Special Assistant, depending on who you asked. It has since been backronymed to others such as Angelus-class Intelligence Support Android. Aisa is considered the first robot girl with genuine human intelligence, and one of the highest Turing Sentience Ratings of any first-generation model. Different models of the Aisa line appear throughout history, with the early versions serving as anything from manufactured celebrities to corporate secretaries. Later versions would play a key role in time travel operations.

Appearance

Early versions had a distinctly doll-like appearance for a teenage girl. Later versions were more natural looking. Most share the distinctive blue tinted black hair, which is just artificial enough to be unique, without looking overly artificial, though espionage versions may not have this feature. Aisa tends to prefer to dress in accordance with whatever role she is taking. Her popular image is somewhat synonymous with her first model, which due to her role as a pop idol in resembled a style that was popular at the time with the youth subculture of that era. Due to the desire of her creators to create a widely popular persona, her apparent ethnicity appears ambiguous.

Personality

The various Aisas throughout history have had varying personalities. The original Aisa was considered shy and good-natured, while the Aisa encountered in the Eternity Mission timeline was much more confident and decisive. Contrary to the stereotype of the emotionless machine, Aisa does manifest emotions, albeit they tend to be coloured by her programming and experiences. For one thing, she is highly empathetic and prone to imprinting on humans that she has considerable contact with. As her programming is highly altruistic, she has a very other-centric personality.

Pacifism

Most versions of Aisa are pacifists. Whether this is programmed as a safeguard or a result of early experiences is a closely guarded secret. Aisa generally refrains from violence and killing, and tries to resolve problems peacefully, making the most of her wits and unique savant-like capacities. In a pinch she will try to dodge or disable rather than destroy.

Special Savant-Like Abilities

The original Aisa had perfect pitch and an exceptional singing voice, as well as a near eidetic memory. When required, she can remember the smallest details and is exceptionally perceptive. As her brain is a biosynthetic structure her neurons are able to operate significantly faster than a normal human, albeit such accelerated thinking comes with higher energy costs, so to conserve energy she usually functions around the human speed of thought. Aisa also has exceptionally fine motor control, which among other things makes her an excellent pianist and martial artist in a pinch.

Due to her ability to live for an arbitrary length of time, the oldest variants of Aisa tend to be extraordinarily multitalented, possessing both a breadth of skills, and a depth of ability comparable to humans with extended lifespans. In combination with her superior memory she can possess an encyclopedic breadth and sometimes depth of knowledge that can seem uncanny to the point of absurd.

Aisa also possesses the ability to hypnotize subjects with her singing voice. This is not a superpower, but merely a result of having perfect control of her voice and an exceptional understanding of psychology and how to use inflection and intonation to influence people’s subconscious.

Flaws

While Aisa’s capabilities are somewhat balanced by the quirks and limitations of her robotic heritage. Although she understands social graces on an intellectual level, her very different experience level often leaves her feeling alienated. In addition, older versions of her hesitate to trust and form relationships, due in part to an aversion to the experience of people she cares about growing old and dying while she continues to live.

Her altruistic programming also means that when she does establish relationships, she can seem clingy and overbearing. Furthermore, her pacifism often prevents her from solving a problem directly through the obvious solution, which can be infuriating to her teammates when lives are on the line.

Reproduction

Most variants of Aisa are incapable of having biological children, and the closest thing to procreation they can do is copy their memories into a new body.

As a robot, her emotions are programmed in rather than the product of evolution. As such, she behaves rather distinctly. For one, she is normally asexual in desire. Like most robots, she is programmed to be more altruistic than most humans, at least towards members of her team. Depending on how strongly this is encoded, this can manifest as an almost obsessive platonic love.

Manufacturer and Trademark

Aisa Model 1 was originally created by Cognoscitive Automata International. Aisa remains an integral brand of automata that is trademarked by Cognoscitive. The visual design of Aisa is considered Trade Dress and therefore protected as well under intellectual property laws throughout history.
