Darkness

The Darkness

In the Darkness there is beauty unseen

Untainted by the gaze of Light

Freedom from those who are blinded

By the poisonous of sight

- 1.6.13 Quatrain of the Revealer

The Darkness is the other side of the Darklight religious war. The Darkness shares many of the central beliefs of the Light, yet is almost diametrically opposed to the Light, which it sees as foolish and controlled by powerful but stupid leaders.

Both the Darkness and the Light believe in a form of reincarnation where the individual’s death leads to his being reborn in the same life, with what is essentially another chance to live the same life, perhaps differently this time. Where the Darkness differs is that it believes that this justifies taking risks and grants one the freedom to do as they please, because if things go wrong, they can just try something different next time. To the Darkness, the Cycle of the Temporal is just an excuse to be hedonistic and free from laws and limitations.

The Darkness believes that the nature of humans and other sentient races is evil, because people are selfish and the cruel reality of survival demands that we take care of ourselves first. Thus, altruistic goodness is unnatural and foolish.

In general, the Gods of Darkness are form a loose alliance out of necessity rather than having common values or morals. They often compete with each other for dominance, and are often called the Unaligned Gods as such.

Nul, God of Chaos

Nul is Aeon’s empty shadow. He is said in harsh whispers to be the patron of annihilation and chaos. All that Aeon made, Nul wishes was unmade. The other supposedly eternal being in either pantheon, Nul is the father of unspeakable horrors from beyond the known universe.

Khreckryshmiron, God of Nightmares

The dark god with the nearly unpronounceable name is known for leading the creatures of the Abyss. Thought to be responsible for the horrific disease known as The Night Terrors, which involve falling into a deep unending slumber in which the victim occasionally performs terrifying outbursts until the soul is devoured by a demon, which manifests in the real world, transforming the body of the hapless soul into a monster.

Gon, God of War

Gon is the god of war and bloodshed. Violence on a grand scale is Gon’s calling card. To worship Gon is to massacre and pillage.

Oniheilion, God of Death

The lord of death is the patron of necromancy and murder alike. He desires nothing more than the corruption and end of all life and the eternal dominion of his undead reign.

Lucifera, Goddess of Mysteries / Subrosa, Goddess of Secrets

Lucifera and Subrosa are the twin goddesses of mysteries and secrets. They are said to possess forbidden knowledge that falsely blasphemes the gods, or reveals their true nature, depending on who you ask. Lucifera is said to seduce followers with revelations of the forbidden knowledge of ancient mysteries, while Subrosa keeps secrets from those who do not deserve to know.
